CITY & MEMBER NEWS
SAFE PHARMACEUTICAL DISPOSAL
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lost Hills / Malibu Station has receptacles for the safe disposal of unused or expired pharmaceuticals, including prescription drugs, controlled substances and “sharps” (needles, syringes). Located at 27050 Agoura Road, between Lost Hills Road and Liberty Canyon, the unwanted items may be deposited in the “Safe Drug Surrender” bins near the entrance of the station under an anonymous “no questions asked” policy. The new program allows area residents to safely dispose of the items in a secure and environmentally protective manner. Customers are urged to not flush or pour unused medicines down the drain. They are harmful to the environment and wastewater treatment systems are not able to remove many substances. Remember the slogan, “No Drugs Down the Drain!” – take them to Lost Hills instead.

With summer behind us, it’s prime time to indulge in this fall’s upcoming ultimate event, the Calabasas Pumpkin Festival! The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the City of Calabasas and the Calabasas Arts Council to present a weekend of family fun on Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at DeAnza Park in Calabasas. “There will be an abundance of pumpkins and plentiful activities for the whole family,” says Jeff Morton, Chair of the Pumpkin Festival. “You can participate as a sponsor or volunteer to work in an area on the day of the event.”

Due to the overwhelming response of last year’s Business Expo, the Chamber is offering 36 business booths that will be strategically located in an area named The Business District with an interactive Fun Zone. “We anticipate 30,000 people from the community and neighboring area to connect with our Chamber business professionals,” commented Carol Washburn.
