CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE
As we enter into July, the month of our Country’s birth that came from the bravery and leadership of our forefathers, I cannot help but think of the importance of taking on a role of leadership has on the impact of one’s career and business success.
As a personal branding expert, I teach my clients that by taking a on
leadership role (whether it’s within your company, trade association,
chamber of commerce, etc.) you are demonstrating your ability to accept responsibility, while at the same time working side-by-side other leaders and getting to know them on a more personal level – a critical element in building your reputation.
I’ve found that in any organization, especially within the Chamber, leadership begins at the committee levels. This month, I would like to thank the 15th Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction Committee for a job well done. Last month’s Wine Tasting was a fun and exciting evening that could not have been accomplished without the help of: Steve Brevidoro, Chair, Brevidoro Insurance Agency; Amanda Beck, Hub International Ins. Services, Inc.; Dylette Davis, Loving Home Hospice, Inc.; Susan Gifford-Blumert, AFLAC; Mike Higginbotham, AXA Advisors, LLC; Elegance Hippolyte, All Saints Home Care; Jerry Magel, Pep Boys; Dana Rolland, Atmosphere Events and Catering; Trevis Rucci, Wells Fargo Advisors; Jacqueline Souza, Souza & Associates, Inc.; Jami Taguchi, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist; Barbara McDaniel, Prudential Calif. Realty; Carol Washburn, Chamber President and CEO; and Cheryl Frotton, Chamber Administrative Assistant.
I encourage any member looking to take on a leadership position to seek out committee opportunities that call to their interests – an annual event, the Governmental Affairs Committee, Education/ Green Task Force Committee, or our newly formed PR Task Force Committee – the Chamber has a variety of committees that serve various functions and interests. If you are looking for involvement with a fun annual event, I highly suggest the Pumpkin Festival Committee. We are currently seeking committee members, including the committee chair position. I personally held that role for two years and found it to be a fun and rewarding experience! Call the Chamber for more information how to get involved.
I wish you and your families a happy and safe 4th of July Holiday and will leave this month’s message off with a quote from one of my favorite patriotic songs…
“From every mountain side, let freedom ring!”
